This news is a little late, but it’s better than never!
After Yellowknife and Nashville and Boston, Cheryll and I went to Mexico! Yes, I understand that this is more South than Nashville, but I didn’t want to mess with the theme. She has family that stay the winter in Mazatlan, so at the end of November we were off!
I get Mexico, now.
I also got a tan.
We spent our days in the sunshine, walking the beach, shopping, eating guacamole and drinking Strawberry Fresca, going deep sea fishing, and having a marvelous time! I got to speak my very tiny amount of Spanish, and picked up a few more words here and there. It was fun spending time with Cheryll’s family. I couldn’t believe that it was above twenty degrees every day, and that I could get a sunburn in December. I could see myself spending weeks on end in sunnier climes once winter hit with a vengeance up north, would I be betraying my blood and country?
Hmm. Betrayal, here I come!
It was hard to come back home in December. All too quickly we fell into the habit of winter clothes and darkness outside. I’m definitely looking forward to going to Mexico again, maybe this time to Mexico City, where I would visit the pyramids of Teotihuacan and learn about the battle between Quetzalcoatl and Tezcatlipoca and the Mayan Suns.
All for research, of course!
The writing of Mistletoe’s second draft is going strong, and I plan on submitting it to agents and publishers by summertime. I will need readers of the second draft, and to compose a third draft before submitting, so I better stop writing this blog and start working on the book!
Adios!
Glad to hear from you and learn that you had a good time in Mexico. I’m also excited that you’re writing again!
